Carly Smallman Comedy

Founder of Bromley.Lol

Carly loves comedy – it’s her whole life! From writing, performing and producing shows to delivering workshops in the community, she is passionate about using laughter to bring people together. Carly has performed stand-up on the BBC, been a panel show regular for ITV, and co-hosted on the radio, but her passion lies in live comedy. She has performed at venues across the UK, from major comedy clubs and arts centres to the Eventim Apollo.

Alongside performing, Carly has developed and delivered comedy-based workshops designed to reduce isolation, build confidence and support wellbeing. Her work includes projects for parents, women and community groups. Since 2024, she has also run regular comedy courses at Churchill Theatre.

Bring Your Own Baby (BYOB) Comedy Workshops

BYOB Comedy offers a relaxed, friendly drop-in session designed especially for parents with little ones. Workshops use gentle comedy and confidence-building exercises to help parents feel lighter, more connected, and less alone.

Bring Your Own Baby (BYOB) Comedy

Our story

Bring Your Own Baby comedy was conceived over a glass of wine as friends and comedians, Carly Smallman and Alyssa Kyria, were discussing the worlds of comedy and motherhood.

They saw a need for a place where new parents could go out and have a laugh, without feeling nervous or judged if their baby needed to be fed, changed, or have a big old scream. Somewhere with hilarious comedy for the grown-ups, great facilities for the little ones and, most importantly, a judgement free zone where parents could whip out a boob or a bum (hopefully the baby’s!).

So, Bring Your Own Baby Comedy was born — an afternoon of amazing comedy, where men, women and babies can relax and have a good laugh at the best comedians on the UK comedy circuit, without paying for childcare!

Gaia Laughter Workshops For Adults

Gaia laughter workshops are a playful, supportive space to breathe, release tension, and reconnect with joy. Each session is designed to uplift your mood, boost resilience, and remind you that laughter is more than fun — it’s medicine for body, mind, and spirit.

Gaia Wellbeing Collective

Laughter is medicine

Gaia laughter workshops are a playful, supportive space to breathe, release tension, and reconnect with joy. Each session is designed to uplift your mood, boost resilience, and remind you that laughter is more than fun — it’s medicine for body, mind, and spirit.

We aim to make laughter therapy recognised more widely for its holistic benefit and invite more people to reconnect with this powerful tool. Whether you’re feeling stressed, disconnected, or simply curious, these sessions offer a safe and welcoming space to explore the power of laughter.

At Gaia, our mission is to challenge the status quo in health. We believe wellbeing should be inclusive and accessible, and our vision is that one day practices like laughter therapy will be recognised as essential tools for community health and prescribed through the NHS.

Stand Up and Shine Workshops for Women

Need a good laugh? Want to feel more confident and connected to your community? Women of Bromley Borough are invited to join a community workshop designed to uncover your smile and free you up!

Stand Up and Shine

Confidence, creativity and connection through comedy

Stand Up and Shine uses comedy, storytelling and performance to help women build confidence, find their voice and connect with others in a supportive environment. Sessions are playful, welcoming and designed for all experience levels, whether someone is completely new to comedy or simply looking to try something different.

Led by comedian Carly Smallman, the workshops encourage participants to explore humour as a tool for self-expression, resilience and wellbeing. Through writing, discussion and laughter, women are supported to step outside their comfort zone, celebrate their individuality and enjoy the confidence that comes from being heard. Open to women, including trans women, and non-binary AFAB people who are comfortable in a women-focused environment.

“A large body of evidence shows that taking part in creative and expressive activities, including through social prescribing, can lead to a wide range of benefits including increased social interaction, decreased stress, adoption of healthy behaviours, and improved outcomes such as skills and employment.”
